Job Title: Process Engineer

Report to: Sr. Manager, Process Engineering

Location: Qingdao

General Purpose:

Based at Maxwell's customer in Qingdao China, this person is a member of the Maxwell Process engineering team. Reporting to the Sr Manager of Process Engineering in Dongguan, your responsibilities are to ensure that Maxwell yield and quality requirements for our Ultra Capacitor range of products are met.

As a supplier to the demanding automotive industry, quality at Maxwell is job number one. Work with our customer's production staff to monitor key process indicators to identify yield detractors or potential impacts to customer satisfaction levels. Identify and implement corrective actions or improvements to the process or products that reduce cost, scrap or process cycle times.

Provide support for internal and customer audits, ensure that process documentation, Control plans, work instructions are current and being followed, update FMEA’s as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Must be a self-starter, sees a problem and works to resolve it
  • Develops new and/or modifies existing production and other processes
  • Drives root cause failure analysis and permanent corrective action on defective products from production
  • Works cross-functionally to drive implementation across the organization through the change control process
  • Define production equipment required to meet business and quality needs of our products, works with external vendors where required to design and implement such equipment
  • Reviews processing techniques and methods used, looks for ways to improve same 
  • Review product requirements with design staff to ensure compatibility of processing methods and design for manufacturability
  • Recommends and prepares changes, additions, and modifications which will facilitate manufacturing
  • May conceive and plan projects involving definition and selection of new approaches and concepts in processing and developing components
  • Gather and process data from engineering testing, evaluation activities and production. Interpret data to provide direction on next steps for design or manufacturing
  • Design and run experiments to collect data on design and process improvements to determine appropriate limits and variables for process and material specification, optimizations, and cost savings

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum BS in mechanical, electrical or related engineering science and 3+ years of process engineering experience
  • Ability to speak and write in English is strongly desired
  • Prior experience in the creation and management of process control documentation, control plan, work instruction, deviation is required
  • Knowledge of SPC, Six Sigma, DMAIC, FMEA required
  • Experience in introducing new products, new material or new processes, product roll out and production scale up
  • Previous knowledge of lean manufacturing desired
  • Prior experience with quality/process management for the Automotive industry including PPAP, APQP, Safe Launch is desired
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between material, process and product performance
  • Knowledge and experience in Design of Experiments and Failure analysis techniques
  • Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills with a passion for product & process improvement
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Must be willing to travel internationally and domestically if required
  • Previous experience of working with contract manufacturers is a plus
  • Previous experience in the energy storage industry is a strong plus

Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the General Manager (GM) is responsible for providing leadership and vision by driving the Chamber’s activities, including events, marketing, public relations, and project management.

Location: Beijing, China
Duration:     Minimum 2 years

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Run the office of 5-7 people;
  • Ensure the implementation of the Board’s strategy and vision;
  • Ensure the financial viability of the Chamber;
  • Establish and maintain relationships with potential and current member companies;
  • Supervise and direct projects (events, communication and marketing tools);
  • Relations with Swiss and Chinese Government officials;
  • Promote Sino-Swiss Trade & Economic relations by coordinating and cooperating with various other institutions such as the Swiss Embassy, CCPIT, SwissCham regional offices, other Chambers etc.

Qualification Requirements

  • Master Degree or other equivalent advanced degree in a China and/or business related field;
  • 2 to 3 years experience in management;
  • Effective leadership and organizational skills;
  • Capacity of thinking strategically and identifying priorities;
  • Effective oral and written communications skills;
  • Reliable, able to work well under pressure, pro-active, flexible and open-minded;
  • Deep understanding of the Chinese market and business environment;
  • Language skills:
    • Excellent oral and written skills in English;
    • Fluency in one or more Swiss languages (French, German, Italian);
    • Command of Chinese is an asset.
  • Swiss Citizen preferred or at least familiar with Switzerland;
