Insights from a fine watch collector: no time like the present

Guest Speaker:  Mr. Sean Li Editorial & Business Development Director, Blackbird Watch Manual

There has rarely been a better time to buy a watch; brands have continued to develop and innovate at a tremendous pace. However, it can also be difficult to make a selection, as there’s so many brands and watch models to choose from, not to mention ways of buying, from boutiques to multi-brand retailers, online, offline, auctions, and pre-owned. We’ll talk about some of the key guidelines to follow, ultimately based on what you want from the watch, whether it’s your first high end timepiece, or whether you’re already an astute collector.

About the guest speaker

Sean Li’s exposure to watches began very early on, with a fascination for these miniature machines worn on the wrist, electronic and mechanical, that could tell the time. He was able to turn a serious hobby into a profession when he started managing Revolution in Hong Kong, one of the world’s leading watch publications. He has also served as a jury member for the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. He is now developing Blackbird Watch Manual, a new platform that will serve as a guide to the culture, history, and passion of watches and their industry.
